Science Class
Science class is about lab testing to see what works and what doesn't under semi-controlled circumstances. As an SEO, it's important that you not just take people's word for things but actually test things out and prove the theory for yourself. This is true for several different reasons. First, you only really learn by doing, but second, your exactly circumstances will be slightly different than someone else's. We can never test in a completely static and isolated environment, so there will be variables in your testing that are different from what others have tested, so to test the impact of any particular approach to SEO, you need first-hand experience. Finally, with the extremely high level of competition on the Internet, there are not only a lot of myths, but some deliberate misinformation floating around. The only way to know for sure what works is to actually do it. Here are a few tips to help you be successful in science class:
- Determine exactly what it is that you want to test (your hypothesis) and then construct the experiment to prove or disprove it. Understand how you will determine what constitutes success.
- Don't ever try something new on a money site. Always test on lab sites that you can abandon if something goes wrong.
- Comply with Google and other systems' terms of service.
- Don't trust everything you hear.
